Biography:
David maintains a business litigation practice, with an emphasis on intellectual property and antitrust. In 2008, David was named one of Oregon's Rising Stars in the annual Super Lawyers publication.

David has extensive experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving patent infringement, trademark infringement, copyright infringement, trade secrets, non-competition provisions and other business disputes. Representative of the efforts David has made for his clients are the following:

Obtaining a substantial award of attorneys’ fees for a client accused of infringing a competitor's patent, after the competitor dismissed its lawsuit following an adverse ruling in a claims construction hearing.

Successfully defending a company accused of misappropriating a competitor's trade secrets, including obtaining a judgment dismissing the competitor's claims following a two-week trial.

Representing a health supplement company sued for patent infringement in successfully invalidating the patent at issue; the result was upheld on appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

David regularly advises clients on business issues involving the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and the defense of infringement charges made by others. David also has substantial experience advising clients on antitrust issues, particularly those arising out of the licensing, acquisition and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

In addition to his work in the courtroom, last year David participated in the Third Annual LAF-OFF Comedy Competition (sponsored by the Campaign for Equal Justice), in which Oregon attorneys volunteer to perform stand-up comedy routines as part of the Campaign's fundraising efforts.
